Our Meet the Maker this week is an alumni of SilverHub and previous jeweller in residence, Tracy Wilson.

Having originally studied Interior Design to masters level, Tracy made the decision to change career direction after attending SilverHub classes back in 2011. She undertook a HNC in Jewellery and is now successfully running her own contemporary jewellery business.

"If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would be working as a jeweller and running my own business, I would have thought they were crazy.
The range of techniques learnt, the encouragement and support given to me during my classes at SilverHub gave me the passion for making jewellery and the confidence to apply to college. After college SilverHub's support continued and they took me back as a resident jeweller, where that support and the friendship of my fellow jewellers was key in helping my development."

While primarily working in silver, Tracy often incorporates colour into her designs by adding gemstones, hints of gold, enamel or oxidising.

In the last nine years, Tracy has had multiple design ranges which continue to grow. She has a presence in galleries across the UK, exhibiting with VAS, Craft Scotland, The Leeds Craft and Design Gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The passion for learning hasn’t stopped and she continues to explore new techniques and implement them into her designs.

Her most recent collection, titled 'Identity', is inspired by sound waves with no two pieces being the same. Visit her website, or follow her Instagram or Facebook to find out more!
