Before going on to study at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Kate Morton attended classes at SilverHub.

"I came to SilverHub hoping to learn more about enamel, as I had previously worked with glass and jewellery making, and as soon as we did our first session, I was hooked.

Since then, Lisa and Jess have shared their knowledge generously, always having time for questions and encouraging me to try new techniques.

I was accepted into 2nd year at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art to study Jewellery while I was with SilverHub, and came back throughout my time at university, including a brief internship one summer which helped push me creatively and planted the seeds for my degree show pieces.

Since graduating, I have gone on to be selected to take part in Getting Started 2020 at the Goldsmiths Centre in London, and have received funding to buy my own kiln. None of these things would have been possible without the confidence that SilverHub gave me, and I’m eternally grateful to Lisa for taking me under her wing all those years ago. I hope to return to SilverHub some day, but for now I’m continuing my creative journey in Dundee and enjoying all the “learning opportunities” it’s bringing!"
