Summer School: Introduction to Etching
This workshop is a great introduction to etching. During the weekend, Studio Director, Lisa Arnott will teach you how to use a variety of stop outs to create wonderful textures and marks.

About the Class
Tutor: Lisa Arnott BA Hons, PGC, MFA Metalwork and Jewellery
This workshop is a great introduction to etching. During the weekend, Studio Director, Lisa Arnott will teach you how to use a variety of stop outs to create wonderful textures and marks. Alongside mark making she will also introduce you to the process of photo etching, how to create your own reusable etched plates which can be used to create textures within roll printing, how to transfer your images for etching and how set up etching safely at home. This workshop will enable you to experiment and create a series of samples allowing you to explore this technique and how it could be used to uniquely within your designed jewellery.
What to bring/wear
· A sketch book or notebook and pencil
· Please wear comfortable, but not your ‘best’ clothes and shoes and for safety reasons, no open-toed shoes
· Bring you your own apron
Lunch is not included or try one of the many cafes in Leith who provide a great lunch. On Sunday it is advisable to bring lunch with you
All tools, equipment and copper metal are provided in the fee and are part of the course. Should you wish to work in silver a small amount of silver is available for you to purchase.
This course is for those students who wish to explore techniques beyond beginners. You should have some experience in soldering. If in doubt, please give us a call before you make a booking.
