The heart of SilverHub is empowerment. We are passionate about empowering our community to achieve the best of their artistic ability. Whether making is a new hobby or you are on a journey towards becoming a professional, we strongly believe in the unity of community. Being a community of makers, designers and students, from beginner to professional, enables us to support each other’s practice no matter what stage your career is at.
The Jewellers in Residence at SilverHub have been working hard to ensure that they are still sharing and encouraging their own communities. Take a look at what they have been up to!
Lisa has up-recycled an old swing set into a poly-green house. She is growing tomatoes, garlic, onions, leeks, turnips, salad red peppers, broccoli, pumpkins and sweet peas for herself and neighbours. Yum! Jess has also been designing online creative workshops for the local community. She is encouraging people to add some colour and life to their windows with these paper crafts.
Sheila has been brightening up our days with daily illustrations of 'Panda and Stripeyman'. In celebration of the 100th birthday of Colonel Tom Moore, she designed a small patch of postcards and has donated the money raised to the NHS.
Lisa is also delighted to be the Scottish contact for The Hand Medal Project. This project was conceived by artists Iris Eichenberg and Jimena Ríos and aims to honour the health professionals who are currently giving their best to their communities and risking their lives. They intend to present as many healthcare workers as possible with a medal, marking the moment we can glimpse the future.
